The article I chose is entitled “5 more minutes? New clock answers resounding ‘no!’”. It is about a new alarm clock that does not have a snooze button. If you manage to unplug it, it still will keep ringing obnoxiously (the article likens it to a bell at a front desk that you would ring to get assistance) because it results to battery power. The only way to get it to stop is to get out of bed and go into the kitchen or bathroom to punch the date into “a telephone style keypad”. The inventor, Paul Sammut, was having trouble getting out of bed for work, so he decided to figure out a way that would force him out of bed to turn off his alarm clock without going back to sleep. He says he now wakes up before it starts ringing it, because he subconsciously fears it and knows he’ll have to get up. He admits that the only way to stay in bed and have it stop ringing is to smash it. Currently, the price tag for this alarm clock is $350.
The photo I plan to take is of my own alarm clock, and the image I plan to draw is the keypad like thing that shuts the alarm off.
For my composition, I want it to be slightly chaotic. I’d like to show someone rushing to figure out how to quickly turn the alarm off, or show someone who seems desperate smashing the clock with a hammer.
