Neff Proj5 Thumbs

I plan to do my editorial image over today's article in the New York Times about Facebook buying Instagram. It's reported that Facebook is buying Instagram for $1 billion! Kevin Systrom, who along with Mike Krieger founded Instagram, created a similar app several years ago that was used by only a few hundred people. Instagram however was an almost over night hit. The article goes into more detail about it's creation and popularity, but focuses mainly on Facebook buying it out. Reactions seemed mixed when it comes to Instagram fans. Many seem distraught and fear Facebook will change what they love about the app. However others seem happy with it. Representatives for both Facebook and Instagram have stated that as of now they will remain two separate platforms, but there's no telling how long that will last.

I like the idea of combing the Facebook and Instagram logos, not necessarily joining them, but incorporating both. I'll make the logos in Illustrator and use my own personal Instagram pictures as the original photos. I want my image to focus on Facebook taking over the Instagram company and the exuberant price tag, rather than the fan opinions, or other topics the article touched on. I think it's important to be able to look at an image with an article and instantly know what it's going to be about. This is why I want to keep it simple and to the point. And the logos for both companies are instantly recognizable by most everyone that would be reading the article.
