The person i plan to depict will be a dreamer, one who
essentially dreams. For this i actually plan to make it a self-portrait of
myself lying in bed or sleeping somewhere. i will take place bottom of frame
while my "dream space" will be illustrations of things of my
imagination, or things of my day that i encountered or thought about. For
someone who dreams vividly ever night and who has actually done reading about
dreams and the state of consciousness of the mind during sleep i want to incorporate
ideas of realism with abstraction. a
dream can feel real and you won’t know it wasn’t until you wake up (unless your
lucid dreaming) and you realize how "silly" some of the things you
thought of. i want to include things like musical instruments for i have had
dreams of playing the keyboards to drums to vague people who only certain
features allow me to recognize them. Other objects will be little creatures
that inhabit the dream, which will be little drawings of geometric and organic
shapes i like to draw. Mostly the things in the picture will be things of my
life and inspiration that can come to me in dream form. These objects of
interest will be appearing to be in a cloud of some form to represent the
fogginess of a dream and the many things that can come in and out unexpectedly.
The whole upper frame will have gaps in the cloud so that I can show the layers
of a dream one can travel where things become intensely real. For that I may
want to include some realistic drawings of people while bottom layer items near
my head will be simpler. I may want to include dark parts in the cloud to
represent the nightmare that can occur, however it would be small to show one
can control what they dream.
