I plan on doing a day in the life of a siren. The mystical creature is portrayed as beautiful and dangerous. I’ve always liked the old Greek mythological tales and sirens are one of my favorite creatures. The tale is that sirens would seduce sailors with music and voices and have them shipwreck on the sirens island. However the tale I most like that I have heard about sirens is that men would go stand near rivers and see a beautiful girl inside the water. They would soon fall in love with the girl. The girl would seduce the young men into going into the water, where the siren would drown them. I wish to portray this action of a beautiful girl in the river, a San Marcos river, seducing a lonely man. I want it to be both modern and ancient looking due to the story. I plan on using a captured image of the River and Sewell Park, and try to mask it as an enchanted land. Maybe an image of a dock with a boy dangling over the edge looking at the girl in the water. I want the girl staring up at the boy as he stares back down at her.  I want to draw out a sketchy close of the sirens face or maybe a cartoonish version of the landscape to make it more mystical seeming. Maybe have the boy and his surrounding be realistic and then draw extras such as the siren in the water and the seaweed around her be more colorful and lavish.
