Vogt_P5 References & Thumbs

In lieu of a recent event I have chosen to cover the lunar landing of Apollo 11 on July 20, 1969, an event that at least one web site considers the most important event in the history of the United States. Apollo 11 was the first successful manned lunar landing in history and marked the first time human life set foot on the moon. The mission's crew consisted of Neil A. Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" E. Aldrin, Jr., and Michael Collins, of which Armstrong and Aldrin actually touched the moon's surface while Collins served as the command module pilot, remaining in lunar orbit aboard the spacecraft Columbia. This mission, though its occurrence was nearly 44 years ago, remains one of the most important--if not the single most important--spaceflight in the history of humankind.
