Bassett, Postcard Thumbs


Canton is a small town located in East Texas that was settled in 1850. It is know for its First Monday Trade days, supposedly the oldest and biggest flea market in the United States. It is so popular that during the weekend of the market, the 5,100 population grows to 300,000. Canton also has an Annual Bluegrass Festival and is the host city of the annual United States Equestrian Drill Championship.

Gruene, Tx is a town located near New Braunfels, TX. The town originated in 1872 as a farmtown, but later became a ghost town post World War II. In the 1970s, Gruene Hall and the general store were restored, and Gruene has been growing as a tourist town ever since. Gruene Hall is now a famous country music venue and the town is a member of the National Register of Historic Places.

Luckenbach is a 9 acre "town" located in the Texas Hill Country. The town was established as a trading post, but gained it's fame from a popular country song by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Today it consists of the old saloon/general store and a dance hall.
