Comrades,
My name is Steven though some call me Steve-O. This is my first semester at Texas State and have recently returned to school after a 5 year hiatus. I work as a barista in an upscale coffee house in Austin. High end coffee has been a passion of mine for years. There is a whole subculture of baristas and enthusiasts who explore the field of coffee in ways most wouldn't think is possible. Twice now I've competed in the Specialty Coffee Association of America's barista championship. Believe me this competition is just as nerdy and boring as it sounds. I also like to dance (lindy hop and two step mostly) and to cook. The most interesting meal I've ever cooked was a menu of upscale versions of white trash comfort food. It included Mahi Mahi fish sticks with spiced ketchup, three cheese macaroni with kielbasa (a take on mac and cheese with cut up hot dogs) and iceberg wedge salads with jalapeƱo ranch.
